Alumni economic pledge protest (1988)

In 1988, student activists urged alumni to write to the college, promising to halt donations until the school adopted a total divestment policy. Activists created a flyer featuring a photocopy collage of the history of administrative resistance to divestment on one side and a blank “pledge card” on the other. Many alumni joined this campaign by filling out pledge cards, writing individual letters, or making public statements. These items showcase individual examples of the many alumni who participated in the economic protest strategy.
