List of Available Plugins

This is a page that contains a summarized introduction to various plugins that are pre-installed in the Omeka. For further information about these plugins, please visit their relevant GitHub or Omeka page.

For general information, visit Omeka Additional Infromation Page.

Accessibility Plus:

Accessibility Plus is a plugin that attempts to make the user experience more accessible by mainly providing alt-text for various pictures. Alternate Text or Alt-Text is the text that helps users understand the content of an image without needing to view the image. It is used by screenreader users, users with slow internet connections, and individuals with cognitive disabilities who need fewer distractions on web pages. Generally, web designers should take the time to handwrite alt-text for every image on their site. However, an Omeka developer may decide that a metadata element for an item may be a sufficient description for an image. This plugin allows developers to automate the process.

Furthermore, the plugin creates an Admin Tools page accessible to Super User from the admin navigation sidebar; through the page one can put the website in maintenance mode, clear the languages cache and create a backup copy of Omeka's database. The plugin's configuration page lets fine-tune these functions, plus many other ones.

Exhibit Builder exhibits may be as short as one page or consist of multiple pages. You can make the pages of an exhibit hierarchical. The layout of exhibits in Exhibit Builder is highly customizable, with the pages composed of smaller units called blocks.
